Cone Of Fire

  • Description

    from the publisher:

Cone of Fire adds the fleets of South America to the Great War at Sea game system: Chile. Argentina, Brazil, and Peru. Both the fleets built by these nations, and the ships planned or ordered but never received are included. Ships from Britain and Germany are also present.

There are more than 40 scenarios covering several tense periods. From the 1901-1902 Beagle channel Crisis to the 1940 tension in the Southern Cone.

    From the box back:
"Nations buy weapons in order to use them, and in the early 20th century, no arms race was more hotly contested than that between the countries of South America. Argentina, Chile and Brazil spent huge sums on modern warships, particularly prestigious new dreadnought battleships."

"Cone of Fire adds the South American navies to both the Great War at Sea and Second World War at Sea series, and provides scenarios for their use in wars that never happened. This box includes two complete games, one for the early decades of the 20th century, one for the 1940's."

"Scenarios include actions that could have arisen from the 1901-1902 Beagle Channel Crisis between Argentina and Chile, the 1914 outbreak of the First World War, the 1928 nationalization crisis, the 1940 Tierra del Fuego crisis, and more. Others are based on actual events: the 1914 British search for the German East Asia Squadron, and the 1939 search for the German raider Admiral Graf Spee."

The operational maps for Cone of Fire were mistakenly printed at 95% if their intended size. Avalanche Press promises to send a free replacement set your next order, or one can contact them to have new maps sent out for the cost of the shipping.
